Calhoun County Man wins a cool million from state lottery

LANSING, MI — A Calhoun County man can breathe easier after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game.

According to a press release, the unidentified player bought his winning ticket at Lakeview Liquor, located at 2497 Capital Avenue Southwest in Battle Creek. He recently visited Lottery headquarters in downtown Lansing to claim the big prize.

The winner chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder.

“I don’t play the lottery a lot, but whenever I feel like buying a ticket, I’ll buy one,” said the lucky 46-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I bought a Millionaire Maker ticket while I was at the store and then tucked it away to scratch later after work. When I saw it was a $1 million winner, I freaked out! It feels like I can breathe again.”
