Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots total over half a billion dollars

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Two big jackpots are available for those who want to try their luck this weekend.
The North Carolina Education Lottery has announced that the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have a combined total of half a billion dollars.
Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will have a $331 million jackpot available. The winner will have the option of taking that home as an annuity or $145.2 million in cash.
Saturday’s Powerball drawing will have a $172 million jackpot. That winner will have the option of taking it home as an annuity or $75.6 million in cash.
“It’s always exciting when both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are rolling at the same time,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the lottery. “It gives North Carolinians two chances to win life-changing prizes. Good luck this weekend.”
The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290 million, and the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
