Last week India was hit by a very powerful and deadly super Cyclone Amphan causing heavy damages to the Eastern part of our country. Direct To Home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has now stepped up to help its customers in the affected areas who are unable to view television due to damage caused by the Cyclone.

The company has started providing free technician visits so that it’s users can get their DTH connections repaired easily without increasing their expenses in time of the crisis. The charge for a technician visit is Rs 150 but it will be waived for customers in cyclone-affected areas.
Tata Sky is sending messages in Bengali to the registered mobile numbers of its subscribers which translates as “If you are facing any technical problems call 1860 208 6633 to book a visit. There will be no charge for installer visits till 10th June.” The update came courtesy of our community forum member Riddhiman who is a Tata Sky customer in West Bengal.
The free technician visit offer is for various parts of West Bengal including Kolkata, Howrah, Gangasagar, South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Basanti, Barrackpore, Sodhpur, Gosaba, Joynagar, Kakdwip, Jhargram, Midnapore, Tarakeswar, Bhojerhat, Jirat, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Birbhum, Purulia, Simlapal, Kalna, Shyamsundar, Katwa, Birbhum, Durgapur, Asansol, Gopivallapur, Raniganj, Bankura, and Galsi that have been impacted by the cyclone.
Tata Sky customer’s from these regions whose DTH service is not working can contact Tata Sky customer care and place a request for the technician visit. After placing the request an authorized engineer from Tata Sky will visit their home and fix their connection. However, if any parts require a replacement then the user will be charged for that part.
Heavy winds of cyclone has dislocated and damaged many DTH dishes which has led to the ‘No Signal’ issue for most of the users. Tata Sky is the first DTH operator which has announced relief for its customers affected by the cyclone with the company continuing to provide free technician visits in the aforementioned areas till 10th June. It remains to be seen if other DTH operators will follow suit and offer technician visits for its customers affected by the cyclone.
