Real Betis vs Barcelona, La Liga Live Football Score 7 Feb 2021

Key Stats

  • Barcelona are unbeaten on their last nine visits to Real Betis in La Liga (W6 D3) since a defeat back in 2008.
  • Real Betis have won just one of their previous 19 matches against Barcelona in La Liga (D3 L15).
  • Barcelona have lost two of their last five away games against Andalusian outfits in La Liga (W2 D1), as many as they had in their previous 18 such contests (W12 D4).
  • Real Betis are undefeated in their last five home matches in La Liga.
  • Barcelona have scored at least three goals in their last six matches against Real Betis in all competitions.

Barcelona will be bidding to make it six straight victories in all competitions when they continue their 2020-21 La Liga campaign away to Real Betis on Sunday night.Ronald Koeman’s side booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey with a 5-3 victory over Granada on Wednesday, but Betis lost on penalties to Athletic Bilbao to exit the competition.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will now switch their attention back to La Liga, where they are currently on a five-game unbeaten run, recording three wins during that spell against Huesca, Celta Vigo and Osasuna.Betis have had their problems this season – suffering nine defeats from 21 La Liga matches – but a total of 30 points has left them in seventh spot in the table, just two points behind sixth-placed Real Sociedad. The Green and Whites finished a disappointing 15th in Spain’s top flight last term but are currently challenging for a potential Europa League spot, which would represent an excellent campaign.

A run of three wins from their last four La Liga matches means that Pellegrini’s side will enter this match full of confidence, but they have lost each of their last four games with Barca.
As mentioned, Koeman’s team advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday courtesy of a 5-3 win over Granada; the Catalan giants actually trailed 2-0 entering the final exchanges but managed to score twice to force extra time before triumphing in impressive fashion.Barca will face Sevilla in the semi-finals of the cup next week, while there is also a Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon, with the two teams locking horns in Spain for the first leg of their last-16 tie on February 16.

Following a memorable comeback away to Granada to book a place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals, Barcelona turn their attentions back to La Liga for another tough away trip, this time to Seville to meet Real Betis. The fixtures continue to come thick and fast and Barça already have the first leg of their semi-final against Sevilla on Wednesday, so Ronald Koeman has to pay attention to the fitness levels of his players and make some decision about who plays and who sits out of this one. The problem is that Betis are a really good team, and even the strongest XI would have trouble against Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Betis started the season a little up and down but are in great form in the league, with five straight games without a loss and some important wins at home. But they have struggled in big games so far, including a 5-2 loss to Barça at Camp Nou earlier in the season. They are also coming off a brutal Cup quarterfinal loss to Athletic Bilbao on penalties on Thursday, so Pellegrini will also have to rotate his team and try to get their spirits back up to face Barça. These teams never disappoint when it comes to entertainment, and we are in for a good one this Sunday. Barça can make it six wins in a row and 11 straight games without a loss in the league, and three points would put them in second place in the table. This should be a lot of fun.

Let’s dance.

PREDICTION

Barça and Betis always play the most fun, high-scoring games you could ask for, and this will be no different: 4-2 Barça, though I wouldn’t rule out 4-3 Barça or even a 3-3 draw just because I’m expecting full madness on Sunday night.
